CWGC has date of death "21th" August 1940 - Chorley in his Vol.1 page 104 lists him on "30th/31th" August 1940 (Blenheim R3773). What means that we still have a problem. Death registration could bring an answer ?
Regards,
Henk.

Hello,

UK.

BRENNAN, Jack Stephen - Sgt - NZ391875 (previously A391875), not 391875, RNZAF.

No connection with 23 (RAAF) Sqn, at all. The Blenheim was from 23 Sqn RAF (Wittering). Sgt Brennan (Air Gunner), was on flarepath duty at Wittering.

See: FYT1/Martyn/p.92. See also, FYT3/Martyn/p.102(bio) & p.547 - accident occurred at 2205.

Hello,

NEW ZEALAND.

MASON, Raymond Edward George - LAC - NZ40655*(previously A40655), not 40655, RNZAF. Vincent serial should read, NZ325, not 325. LAC Mason buried at Feilding Cemetery, not Fielding.

*
Mason's death was the first of an RNZAF airman to be recorded in contemporary documents featuring an 'NZ' service number prefix. Up to this time numbers for pre-war regular airmen normally carried no prefix, while those of airmen enlisted for 'Duration of War' , including Mason, had been prefixed 'A'.

See: FYT1/Martyn/p.92 & FYT3/321 (bio) & p.547 - crashed on the Pattie family farm of Scotson.

Hello Col,
This is where I got the 325 number. I now see the preceeding "NZ" note also there is no "NZ" before the service number :(
