What caused the death of following airmen. It's known that the Luftwaffe this day attacked aerodromes North Weald, Manston, Gt.Shefford and West Malling.

The Blenheim L1409 was one of three 25 Sqn a/c shot down by a Hurricane on this day, the others were L1512, P/O D Hogg KIA, Sgt W Powell baled out, and L8656 , no casualties. There were no casualties on L1409(Warner's Blenheim,p270)

Broadbent,32 is registered at Winchester and may have been on an earlier unit as 960 Balloon Sqn were not formed until 26.8.40 in Lyness(Shetland)( Flying Training and Support Units since 1912- Ray Sturtivant and John Hamlin)
Cain,20 is registered at Chippenham(Wiltshire) ?Yatesbury, Lyneham or Hullavington
Gordon,25 registered at Warwick
Wood,24 and Wright 28 are registered at Epping(Essex)(?N Weald)
Lloyd,26 at Liverpool
I note for Broadbent that CWGC has him on 930 Balloon Sqn and that was Southampton/Titchfield based

Hello

P/O (Pilot) John R.S. GORDON - 40469 - the Coventry Evening Telegraph of September 6th 1940 reported the following:

Officer Found Shot
After a shot had been heard from an office in a Midland R.A.F. station, Pilot Officer John Robert Seaforth Gordon (25) was found dead with a ullet wound in the head.
At the inquest, yesterday afternoon, it was stated that Gordon, whose home was at Glasgow, suffered head injuries in a flying accident about 18 months ago, and the Coroner returned a verdict that the officer died from a wound self-inflicted, whilst the balane of his mind was disturbed.

Andrew Sorbie 625465, was dangerously injured in a motorcycle accident on the Tilhead to Farnborough Road whilst on duty. Admitted to Tidworth military hospital, he died at 21:15 hours of a fractured skull

Uffz Horst KLATT Bf110C ‘U8 + KL’ of 3./ZG 26. Bailed out over sea and drowned. Body washed ashore 04/10/1940.

Uffz Johannes KORN Gunner aboard Bf110C ‘3M + HL’ of 2./ZG 2. This aircraft collided in mid air with ‘3M + EK’ over Rye Hill, near Epping, Essex. Pilot bailed out POW.

Crew of Bf110C ‘3M + EK’ of2./ZG 2, that collided In mid air with ‘3M + HL’ crashing at Hobbs Cross, Harlow, Essex.

Uffz Ernst August BOCK Radio Operator of Do17Z ‘5K + KM’ of 4./KG 3. Force landed at Burnham-on-Crouch, Essex after being attacked by Hurricanes of 310 Squadron and 601 Squadron on the 31st August 1940. Died of wounds 3rd September 1940. Remaining crew all POW.

Donald Midgley Stott 572326 | attached to 30 MU | were both riding on a motorcycle when it came into collision with a car in Chester. Both were admitted to Chester Infirmary where they died of their injuries
