I am looking for the circumstances of the loss of Flying Officer Kartar singh Saund. (The request came from his nephew) He was a senior Flying Officer with No.2 Squadron, indian Air force. and part of a detachment of six pilots sent to Imphal in May 1943 to support the Chindits Operations.

now the 2 Squadron, IAF ORB is missing the entire period from Sept 43 when they converted to Hurricanes till Sept 43 and thus the details of this little detachment and the loss of Kartar Singh are not recorded.

Are there any aircraft losses tied to this date / unit / area?

Thanks in advance.

I have since received an update from the family that Kartar Singh Saund, died of infections related to burn injuries sustained in an aircrash from April near Imphal. The assumption is that he was involved in an aircraft that crashed on take off - perhaps a Hurricane ..

FWIW, the photographs contributed by his family have been updated at this link

I will be updating his profile with a few more details shared by his nephew.
