What caused the death of:
Sgt (Pilot) Trevor BUDDEN - 564125 - kia flying operations against the enemy - buried Kimmeridge Churchyard, Dorset (UK5047).

Proposed aircraft losses:

Blenheim IV - P4830 - SD Flt - flew into ground 3 miles S of Salisbury, Wiltshire
Hurricane I - P3027 - 17 Sqn - crashed on take-off Debden.

PURPOSE OF TEST FLIGHT: Aircraft acting as target for AI-equipped Beaufighter. Two officers from 2nd Battalion Lancashire Fusiliers on board to observe South Coast beach defences
ACCIDENT DETAIL: Starboard engine failed, control lost whilst attempting forced landing

Andrew Meldrum McLauchlan 1063720 attached to number 10 SOTT, died in RAF hospital Fylde of pneumonia only 5 weeks after joining the RAF

Died after being shot by a friend in their Billet.The wound developed and he died three days later from septicemia.

AC2 Edwin Sidney Harold UNDERWOOD 1155519 961 (Ballon) Sqn Inj/+ 17-Sep-40

According to inquest reported in Dover Express - Friday 20 September 1940 he was accidently shot on 8th Sept and died 17th - which is 9 days later - not 3 or 8 as reported elsewhere

He was initially shot in buttock by LAC Ernest Turner

Flight Lieutenant F S Rae (Medical Branch) said that deceased had a gunshot
wound in the buttock He got on well for two or three days, but then the wound turned
septic, and he died in a hospital on September 17th. Deceased attached no blame to
Turner.
