P/O William Herbert Cheetham, Sgt Pilot John Medd and Corporal Cecil George Gurd were killed (missing) and A/C.1 Leslie Broadbent Wilson survived as a result of the collision between two aeroplanes of No 22 (Torpedo Bomber) Squadron, based at Donibristle, Fife. All 4 men parachuted, but the 3 missing men were blown out to sea. Wilson landed in the surf and was dragged ashore by people on the beach.

The aircraft was at No. 1 Armament Training Camp, Catfoss, Yorks and they were over the Skipton Ranges when the collision occurred.

Can anyone ID the aircraft (believed to be Vickers Vildebeest's) involved and maybe place the crew in each aircraft?

Many thanks

Paul
