Working through some pre war RAAF Bale outs now.On June 10, 1938 there was a collision between DH 60 Moths A7-73 and A7-27 over Point Cook, Melbourne, Victoria. Air Cadet Barton baled out OK of A7-73 , Air Cadet Bell landed A7-27 OK
Can anyome please supply the full names of Air Cadets Barton and Bell quoted as O "S" Barton or O "F" Barton and E. R. Bell
Many thanks

Thanks - I see
266 John Oscar Frank BARTON DFC RAAF is also 266 John Oswald Frank BARTON DFC RAAF. born UK 1918!
BTW I have got Aircraftman Leslie Redford Clisby on April 24, 1936 in Moth A7-45 and Flight Lieutenant John Raeburn "Sam" Balmer on June 10, 1938 from a Wapiti pilot landed OK (but I suspect the later was a 'deliberate fall out')
I will reply to your email privately but thanks for all your help so far..

Paul,
Re: "Sam" Balmer.
One popular story concerns the day (12-8-1937) Flight Lieutenant John Balmer exited an aircraft in which he had been instructing and parachuted to earth, leaving the cadet pilot* to fly the machine back to Point Cook. Newspapers reported that he had accidentally fallen from the aircraft**, but the story circulated throughout the Air Force that he had jumped to provide an otherwise proficient student with the incentive to apply his skills properly!

Paul
Falling out of a plane deliberatly and getting a Caterpillar Club badge I strongly believe one of my bale outs did it TWICE (Canadian) in two different countries two years apart!
