On August 3 1938 Gloster Gauntlet Mk. II. K7809 of 66 Sqn at Duxford hit obstacle on take-off & abandoned.

For the historical record. 39471 Richard Maurice Power, was an Australian, born in Melbourne. He attended Point Cook as a cadet in 1936, and in January 1937, sailed for England to take up a short-service commission in the RAF. He went to 11 FTS, Wittering, 66 Sqn., Duxford, 504 Sqn., Debden, and in early July 1940, joined 236 Sqn.
