Hello,
Further to my last post concerning F/Lt. Mike R Evans:
Returning from a operation against Berlin 7th September 1941, F/Lt Evans' Wellington X9823 OJ-R, was attacked at the Dutch coast, just south of the Frisian Islands by a Ju 88. He hit the Wellington, but the bomber's gunners engaged him and drove him off. It is reported that when he broke off, one of his engines was burning, but he disapperared into cloud. It was believed the Ju 88 would have been forced to land as a result of the damage the gunners inflicted.
I do not know if an official claim was made for the night fighter.
Does anyone know of a night fighter making an emergency landing that would match these cicumstances?
Thanks,
Sam
