An aircraft of the Communication Flight, RAF Ramleh piloted by P/O Desmond Edward Bell with Lt. Frederick Scarborough (late Royal Air Force) went missing between Abukir an Ramleh Palestine on Sept 12th 1938

Can anyone provide a type and ID for this aircraft?

Thanks

Paul

Paul,

Fron ABS J1000-J9999

Fairey IIIf Mk.IV {J9798} of 47s (note unit) ran out of fuel between Abu Sueir and Ramleh and ditched of Egyptian coast

Incidentally, did the crew survive the ditching?

DG Thanks

A Fairey IIIF loss in 1938! - That is a surprise - However, unfortunately both P/O Desmond Edward Bell and Lt. Frederick Scarborough were killed

I wonder if it was a Gordon conversion ???
