Hi the above picture was taken in Canberra around March 1946 at the time of Mountbattens visit to Australia. Contemporary records mention a signals duty Dakota supporting following Mountbatten around the country. I am trying to determine the identity of the Dakota., the last number of the serial under the wing appears to be an upside down "2".
I have received pictures (from John Sheehan whose dad flew these aircraft) of KN372 based at Iwakuni with 1315 flight wearing similar but not identical ensigns on the nose. In the pictures below the flag is of the CIC BCOF in the Canberra picture it looks like the GG of India flag.

It is possible that these are one and the same aircraft with the ensigns changed with the "ownership" from Robertson to Mountbatten or of course they could be entirely different aircraft. Can anyone throw some light as to how many Daks would be wearing these unusual ensign markings, how many and what identities of the Daks in 1315 flight?
