Hi Henk
For what it's worth, I have a note that one person was killed when the Anson collided with the balloon cable, but no actual name.
Cheers

And T M B Newton is listed on CWGC burial return as being posted to 14 FTS

WIFFEN, Edward - Lac - 571765 - RAF - 77 Sqn.
Horden ( Thorpe Road) Cemetery, Durham.
Killed in a motor-cycle accident in Darlington.
The Index to Allied Airmen Roll of Honour, 1939-1945 on ancestry.co.uk has "Killed in a motor cycle accident at Blackmore Corner, Darlington."
However he's recorded as "on the casualty list for Driffield Airfield bombed by Luftwaffe 15/08/1940" on the IBCC website?
https://losses.internationalbcc.co.uk/loss/230318/
His death, however, is registered at Northallerton, which clearly isn't Driffield, nor indeed Darlington? Perhaps he was taken to Northallerton Hospital?

Simon
