The above emboldened crash was flown by my great-uncle John Shirley Bunbury who was injured and spent time in Corbett Hospital in Stourbridge. He made a complete recovery and was killed in action onboard Lancaster R5639 on the night of 17/18 August 1942 along with all of his crew. No trace of his aircraft was ever found.

Probate on John Vincent PEARCE shows he died at 15 Shepherds Bush Green Hammersmith.

The Bomb Sight website shows a HE bomb falling on this site in the period 7 October 1940 - 6 June 1941.

The 1939-40 Kelly's Directory of Hammersmith shows that this site was occupied by The Telegraph (Public House).

A check on CWGC shows that there were 9 other casualties that were shown to have died at Telegraph Hotel, Shepherd's Bush Green.

Alex,
This was a Hudson, as per AIR81/3947: https://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/details/r/C16688045
The other four crew were taken POW.
The correct serial is N7301.
I have amended our database to take out the incorrect links to the Spitfire (with the exception of deleting the POWs, which Jagan will need to do).
