Hello,

I'm pleased to announce that a new 'SQUADRONS!' is now available: The Spitfire Mk.VII with 38 pages, 40 photos and 3 colour profiles.

The Spitfire Mk. VII was the first attempt to re-work the airframe of the Spitfire. Dedicated to high altitude interception, the Mk.VII arrived actually too late for this, the Luftwaffe having almost deserted the sky of the British Iles. Replacing the Mk.VI in this role in Nos. 124 and 616 Sqns, the Mk.VII was underemployed for about a year (many aircraft remaining in storage), before to see its role switching to more conventional missions, with one more squadron, the 131, joining the two Mk.VII squadrons in 1944. However, as the Mk.IX was already widely used by that time, and being more versatile, the Mk.VII was not able to have any impact over the Continent during the summer 1944. Somewhere, the Mk.VII missed its war, despite its potential.

Available in paperback back (and as an e-book) via Amazon:

Hi Phil,

Great to see that you continue to add new books often covering aircraft that has been neglected by others. Can you indicate when the following titles in the series RAF, Dominion & Allied Squadrons At War series will be available:

•No.67 Squadron 1941-1945
•No.134 Squadron 1941-1945
•No.313 (Czechoslovak) Squadron 1941-1945
•No.355 Squadron 1943-1945
•No.451 (RAAF) Squadron 1941-1945
•No.489 (NZ) Squadron 1941-1945

Cheers,
Peter

Hi Peter,
Honestly I don't know. Except the 489, all the titles you mentioned are more or less well advanced, and will be completed someday. What it takes generally a lot of time is the pilot roster. In the last months, I spent many time to re-think my website and converting most of my titles into e-books with the need to work on different projects. Furthermore, the RAFM has limited the number of enquiries per month, and that doesn't help very much either. But on the top of the list, should come to light the 313 and 451 in the next few months.
Thanks for your interest in my publications.

Hi Phil,
Thanks for the reply. I will keep my eyes open and wait especially for the 67 Sqn book.

Hello.
I kindly ask you if you have information about a Bristol Blenheim Mk IV shot down on 10th Jan. 1941 in the sky between Ventotene and Capri. Thanks a lot for appreciated support.
