JONES, James Evan - Lac - 541047 - the Glamorgan Advertiser of Decemebr 27th 1940 reported that he was knocked down at midnight on the road from Bridgend to Porthcawl by a car driven by 19 year old Pilot Officer James Arthur Young. He was fined £1 for driving without due care and attention and £1 for driving without reasonable consideration for others using the road.
Jones was walking in single file with Cpl John Fodden along the right hand side of the road, and had crossed over to the left side as they neared their destination, checking to see if any traffic was approaching before they crossed. Jones was struck from behind by the car, and neither P/O Young nor his passenger said they could see either of the men walking on the road in the darkness.
