Re: AUS11072 Cpl Frank GREGSON MiD RAAF:

This was not the only loss to the squadron (456 [RAAF]), during its final days. LAC Frank Gregson*, a Fitter IIE, who had already been recognised with a mentioned in dispatches for his service in the Middle East, was to die of illness. He had contracted tuberculous meningitis, and passed away on 8 June (1945), in hospital at Haywards Heath, in Sussex.

* Cpl F. Gregson, 11072. 1AD, 1 ED, 205 Gp RAF, 462 & 456 Sqns, 6456 SE. Engineer of Melbourne; born Melbourne 17 May, 1917. Died of illness 8 June, 1945.

Cruickshanks & Clare killed after Halifax JP203 hit cross on top of church in Kingsway , Clifton on approach to Clifton Aerodrome, York. F/Lt. Cruickshanks son, who unveiled a plaque in the church, Air Commodore Colin John Cruickshanks AFC*, FRAeS died on 21/7/2014 aged 69

John Frances Palleck J 47443 | was on a night training exercise when he walked into an airscrew of Wellington X LN691 at RAF Long Marston at 00:50 Hours. The pilot was instructed to perform a solo circuit and the crew left the aircraft. Pulled rotated the rear turret to the beam, contrary to standing orders and walked under the wing into the rotating starboard airscrew., the impact being severe enough to break the blades. He was admitted to Stratforc Upon Avon EMS hospital, where he died at 04:40 Hours without regaining consciousness
