What caused the death of and/or what were the places of death registration for:

Sgt (Pilot) Basil P. BUCHEGGER - 904138 - RAF from Switserland - killed on active service;
F/O Basil M. COOK - 76195 - 18 BC, 968 (Balloon) Sqn, Belfast - not found Flight archives;
P/O (Pilot) William E. HOLLAND - 88413 - killed on active service, and
LAC (Pilot u/t) Norman H. OWEN - 1101265 - killed on active service.

Proposed aircraft losses for this day:

Magister I - L8070 - 24 EFTS - collided with Tiger Moth BB738 over St.Albans, Herts.
Tiger Moth II - N9115 - 14 EFTS - dived into ground Maxstoke Priory, Warwickshire.
Tiger Moth - BB738 - 24 EFTS - collided with Magister L8070.

Regards and thanks for your help.
Henk.

Hi Henk
Buchegger,25, Owen,19, and Holland,49, are all registered at St.Albans which suggests the collision. The only reservation I would have is with Holland's age which seems a little old but not impossible. I did find another William E Holland,40, at S Shields, Northumberland, but CWGC gives only 1 for that date with no age. I can't access the records for N Ireland if Cook died near where his unit was stationed
Regards
Dick

Thanks Dick. The question remains who was/were on the Magister and who on the TM. Maybe DaveW has the answer.
Regards,
Henk.

Thanks Dave I followed the forums database details .
"Sergeant B P Buchegger, Leading Airman G R Tait (Royal Navy): killed; aircraft accident, Magister L8070, 24 Elementary Flying Training School, 10 December 1940"

And

"Pilot Officer W E Holland, Leading Aircraftman N H Owen: killed; mid air collision with Magister L8070, Tiger Moth BB738, 1 Elementary Flying Training School, 10 December 1940".

Looks like I got my wires crossed. Will now edit my earlier post.
Thanks for picking it up.
