WILSON, Robert Tullis - there's a Robert Tullis Wilson, aged 57, on Scotland's People Statutory Deaths register. He is listed as a Stockbroker, and died on June 29th at 4.30am at Octavia Terrace, Greenock, of Bronchial Carcinoma. There is an RCE file, but unfortunately the file is wrongly labelled and the image file is for someone else completely!

The National Probate Calendar on ancestry.co.uk lists his death as June 26th 1945.

Not sure why he'd be on the Runnymede Memorial if he died (at home?) in Greenock?

Simon

Those Runnymede people are those CWGC did not have burial details for in cases where they were buried by family. If the memorial panel number is a high onevits an indicator. Family may simply not have corresponded with CWGC post war when records were being drawn up. We touched on this many many moons ago.

Thanks for that Dennis, very helpful.

Hello

WAAF
ROBSON, Ethel Victoria May - LACW - 2089872 - the Newcastle Journal of July 3rd 1945 reported the following:

WAAF contacted T.B. on service
A verdict that Ethel Victoria May Robson (24), wife of Gunner George Robson, Kirkley Avenue, South Shields, died from “tuberculosis contracted from serving in the W.A.A.F.,” was recorded by the South Shields Coroner (Mr. W. M. Patterson) yesterday.
Gunner Robson stated that he was married in 1938 and had one child aged six. For the last four and a half years he had been abroad, arriving home only last Tuesday. His wife came home on leave from the W.A.A.F. about six months ago and was taken ill. She was treated in hospital for five months and allowed to go home the day after he arrived home from abroad. She died at home on June 29.
