Canada, War Graves Registers (Circumstances of Casualty), 1914-1948 on ancestry.com says

"Aircraft being flown by A.C.2. Botcher, R. B. and A.C.2. Beedie, T. S. on routine exercises crashed into Lake Travis, Northwest of Austin, Texas approximately 14:30 hrs 3rd September 1945. Cause not yet determined. "

Dear Mr Smart, I can see this has been some time since you posted this .. but I am interested as to why you would have the above gentleman mentioned as 'Unaccounted Airmen' ?? He would have been my Uncle if he had lived, but he died too soon ... he was only 20 yrs old and married only for a few weeks.

Forgive me if I am being rather simple .. but this is my first visit here .. and I have been searching for the HOW of my uncle died for decades to no avail .. but tonight I did manage to find out where and that the plane flew into the ground ... Not very clear I suppose but better than the very little info we had before now !

Hi Susan

The 'unaccounted' simply refers to the fact that the circumstances of death for these airmen was unknown to the originator of this series of threads many years ago when he began recording the facts.

Hamid O'Dell 743253 , attached to RAF Innsworth, was admitted seriously ill to RAF Hospital Innsworth where he died of Anaemia

Edward Keith 1177094 , attached to 146 MU , was admitted seriously ill to Number 2 RAF General hospital on 2 September , where he died at 22:00 Hours of poliomyelitis

James Hares 646761 , died on board the Ship, Monarch of Bermuda off Colombo of cardiac faliure due to acute oedema of the mediadtum following an allergic reaction . It is also my contention that he should actually be commemorated on the Singapore Memorial
