Hello,

AUSTRALIA

Sub-Lt (A) Albert Charles DOOLEY RNVR (HMS Glory)

Sub-Lt (A) Albert Charles DOOLEY RNVR (attached to RAN Nowra), was accidentally drowned in a public swimming pool at Nowra. He had been swimming with friends in a pool which was in a fenced-off portion of the Shoalhaven River. His companions left the vicinity of the pool unaware that anything had happened. His body was recovered later among grass and weeds at the bottom of the baths in nine feet of water.

144109 LAC () Ronald Patrick MURPHY RAAF

LAC Ronald Patrick MURPHY RAAF, of No.99 Sqn RAAF., was accidentally drowned in the Yarra River, at Yering, Victoria, on 13 January, 1946. His body was recovered on 14 January, 1946. He had been on leave from his unit, and was swimming with a group of people, including his female companion of the time. Unfortunately, his companion (who was only 16), committed suicide later, using a single-barrelled shotgun. Her parents were in Melbourne at the time to identify Murphy's body at the City Morgue. A Double Tragedy.
