Hello,

AUSTRALIA - 133422 LAC Allan Alfred HADFIELD RAAF.

133422 LAC (Guard) Allan Alfred HADFIELD RAAF (of RAAF Station Canberra), died as a result of injuries sustained when the bicycle he was riding came into collision with a motor car driven by Robert Henry Gunning, at the intersection of the Yass Road and the Federal Highway, ACT. An inquest determined that both Hadfield and Gunning had made an error of judgment, and there was no criminal negligence. LAC Hadfield had suffered lacerations to the head and arms and a fractured skull, sufficient to cause death.

Hadfield is buried in the Woden (not Widen) Public Cemetery, Canberra, ACT.

PARKER, Vincent (Australian) - F/Lt(Pilot) - 42356 - the Berwickshire Advertiser of Janaury 31st 1946 reported:

EX-P.O.W. CRASHES
Battle of Britain Veteran
A veteran of the the Battle of Britain and an ex-prisoner of war, Flight Lieutenant Vincent. W. Parker, crashed to his death near Felkington during a training flight on Tuesday. The plane was completely wrecked.
An eye-witness of the crash, Mr. W. Robertson, Horncliffe Mains, said he saw two planes manoeuvring. The leading plane dived, followed by the other, as if in pursuit. The first plane started to spin earthwards at a terrific speed and vanished behind a group of trees.
An Australian by birth [actually born Vincent Wheatley, at Chester-le-Street, County Durham], Parker had spent the greater part of his life in this country, although his parents lived in the Dominion.
Group Captain Donaldson, Station Commander at Milfield Aerodrome, where Parker was stationed, paid tribute to him and said he had had a remarkable flying career and had much to his credit.
Brought down off the Isle of Wight during the Battle of Britain, he was unfortunately picked up by a German torpedo boat. He spent the majority of his captivity at a punishment camp because of his repeated attempts to escape.
