MASON, Howard - LAC - 1513101 - the National Probate Calendar has a Howard Mason of 60 Lees Street, Brimingham 18, died 3 February 1946 at Little Bromwich Hospital, Birmingham.

PRIOR, Albert James - LAC - 841267 - the National Probate Calendar records that he died at Croydon Borough Sanatorium, Cheam.

The Dundee Evening Telegraph of February 4th 1946 reported the following:

SIX DEAD IN AIR CRASH
The Air Ministry announced to-day that the bodies of all six of the crew of the Dakota which crashed on a lonely fell in Cumberland yesterday had been found.
The victims were W.O. W. D. Reeve (pupil pilot); 199008 Flying Officer J. D. Taylor (pilot); 178324 Flying Officer W. Knowles (navigator); 1675181 Sergt. G. T. Wardle (navigator pupil); 1255387 Warrant Officer A. G. Gravestock (wireless operator); and 2210221 Flight-Sergeant D. [Delwyn] Thomas (wireless operatoer pupil).
The wreckage was found eight miles from Crosby-on-Eden R.A.F. station (near Carlisle), which the aircraft had left on a cross-country training flight at 9.40 p.m. on Saturday. The plane returned at 2.16 yesterday morning, making radio contact with its station preparatory to landing. It asked for information about the cloud base, and the station's reply was acknowledged by the aircraft. Then all was silence. The Dakota's engines were not heard as other aircraft were landing at the time.
