The above two airmen were crew of Dakota IV - FZ559 - 3 PTS - Pindi-Khut, which struck the ground whilst low flying. Some members of the Indian Army were also killed.

137442 LAC George Benjamin ELMS RAAF, died on 30 April, 1946, of an unspecified illness, in Randwick Hospital, New South Wales. Elms had been officially discharged from the RAAF on 22 November, 1945. He had served in the 1st AIF* during WW1, and the Volunteer Defence Corps in WW2. He was 51 years-of-age.

BUCKLEY, Francis Charles - Sgt - 1181515 - the Staffordshire Advertiser of May 11th 1946 reported the following:

Funeral of Sergt. F. C. Buckley - the funeral took place at St. Editha's, Church Eaton, on Saturday, of Sergt. Francis Charles Buckley, R.A.F., whose death occurred in the Staffordshire General Infirmary. Twenty five years of age, he had served for six years in the R.A.F. and was wounded last year. He was spending his demobilization leave at his home, Norbury Park, near Gnosall when he was taken ill. He leaves a widow and one child.

LITTLE, Armand Harold - LAC - 1722699 - the National Probate Calendar records that he died at the Proncess Mary's Hospital, Halton Camp, Bucks.

HAYTON, John Mark - F/Lt (Pilot ) - 149536 - the National Probate Calendar records that he died at Felixtowe, Suffolk.

SMALL, Edward Sidney Clement - W/O (Nav) - the National Probate Calendar records that he died at Orwell Haven, Harwich, Essex. The Rugby Advertiser of May 10th 1946 reported:

ACCIDENT WHILE FLYING
Warrant Officer Edward Sidney Clement ("Chum") Small, aged 23, only son of Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Small, "The Elms," Clifton, who was the navigator in a Beaufighter, lost his life in an accident while flying on Tuesday of last week. His body was recovered on Tuesday after his death ahd been presumed.

The Western Daily Press of May 1st 1946 reported:

Three 'Planes Crash in Mid-Air
Villagers at Shotley, near Ipswich, saw an aircraft crash into the River Orwell and disappear, following a mid-air collision involving three Beaufighters yesterday.
A naval launch picked up the body of one of the members of the crew. Th other was not found.
One ’plane came down in a field at Kirton, a village nearby, and pilot and navigator climbed out unhurt, save for a shaking and cuts. It is understodd that the third Beaufighter was able to regain its base in North Norfolk, where it had taken off.

PAKISTAN
AARON Dennis - W/O(Pilot) - 1451055 - the the National Probate Calendar records that he died at Rawalpindi. The Yorkshire Evening Post of May 18th 1946 reported:

Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Aaron, Bond Street, Pontefract, have been officially informed that their only son, Warrant officer Dennis Aaron (23), was killed when his aircraft crashed near Rawalpindi.

MONTGOMERY, Richard - W/O(WoP/AG) - 1573354 - the Falkirk Herald of May 4th 1946 reported:

Mr. and Mrs. Montgomery, 10, Russell Street, Falkirk, have received intimation of the death of their oungest son, Warrant Officer Richard Montgomery, who was killed as the result of an air crash in India on 30th April.

The accident itself was reported in the Western Daily News, May 2nd 1946:

Dakota crash: 12 dead
Twelve people were killed, including two British officers of the Indian Army, and two R.A.F. warrant officers, members of the crew, when a Dakota aircraft crashed deven miles from Rawalpindi, Punjab, yesterday.
The others killed were seven Indian commissioned officers and one sepoy. The plane was taking military members on an air dispatch course for air experience. Names have not yet been announced. - Reuter.

Francis Charles Buckley 1181515 | attached to Number 100 PDC | was on release leave when he underwent an operation in Stafford Infirmary for an operation to release a strangulation of the bowel caused by a bullet wound from the accidental discharge of a rifle in August 1945, but he died of post operative shock
