PELL, Eric Raymond - F/Sgt - 1860044 - the Nottingham Journal of June 12th 1946 reported the following:
RUM AND BEER BEFORE SWIM
A young airman who died while bathing was said by a friend at a Bournemouth inquest yesterday to have drunk some rum and two pints of Scotch ale as well as a considerable amount of beer before going for a swim.
He was F.Sgt Eric Raymond Pell (21), of the R.A.F. Hospital, Wroughton, near Swindon, whose home was at Lea, near Ross-on-Wye.
Dr. W. McNaughton. Bournemouth pathologist, said that when entering the comparatively cold water Pell would be liably to sudden shock. Other eveidence showed that the first that was seen from the shore of trouble was Pell's body floating about 20 yards out. A verdict of accidental death was recorded.

Hello,
AUSTRALIA.
1361 W/O John Henry STILES RAAF
1361 W/O John Henry STILES RAAF (of Care & Maintenance Unit, Mallala, S.A.), died on 9 June, 1946, at 105 Australian Military Hospital, Springbank, South Australia, from the injuries received in a motor car accident on the Gawler-Mallala Road on 4 June, 1946.
Others involved in the accident were:
153902 Cpl Herman Janke RAAF - Slight concussion
4373 F/S Maurice MIGHALL RAAF (Owner and driver of vehicle) - Shock
116390 F/S Reginald Henry Frederick STOCKER RAAF - Shock
At a subsequent Inquest, the Coroner severely criticized the Medical Officer at RAAF Mallala, for unnecessarily causing aggravation to the injuries (Fractured skull, clavicle and ribs), suffered by LAC Stiles, when he ordered Stiles be moved from Gawler to Mallala, over rough roads. He determined that the journey was prejudicial to the health of the patient and prejudiced his recovery. No action was taken against the unnamed medico. No blame was attached to the driver of the vehicle.
