Hi Henk
Madden,19,is registered in Manchester, which ties in with his unit and with the Air Raids on the 21/22/Dec,40. I couldn't find Goulding although he is in Chorley Vol 9,Roll of Honour,as being on 35 Sqn and with D-O-D of 23/12/4O, the same as CWGC
Regards
Dick

No. 35 Sqn moved to Linton on 12/12/40 but didn't start Operations until 10/11 March so Goulding is a non operational death

Eddie,
Or he was killed in an air raid, what I agree, was non operational but a reason to list him as being "killed on active service".
What's your idea ?
Best regards,
Henk.

Hi Henk
To my knowledge Linton wasn't bombed so I suppose that leaves a ground accident of some sort.
York was bombed in 1940 and 1941 (as well as the main one in 1942) but I don't have any dates or casualties. Without a place of death registration it is all guess work

Thanks Eddie for this additional info. Will not spend more time to this airman as about 900 names are left on my unaccounted list !
Regards,
Henk.
