CONNELL, Joseph Gordon - Air Mechanic 1c - L/FX.109382 - the Statutory Deaths Register on the cotland's people website records that he died at 4.30 a.m. at Ruchill Hospital, Glasgow, due to Pulmonary TB.

MEREDITH, John David - AC1c - 1864030 - his death certificate on a family tree on ancestry.co.uk records that he died at 10, Warren Road, Guildford, due to a cerebral tumour.

PANNIERS, Vernon Archie - W/O - 1864701 - the National Probate Calendar records that he died at St. Thomas Hospital, Godalming, Surrey. The Hastings and St. Lenoards Observer of June 29th 1946 reported that he died after an operation, and included the following:

Mr. Panniers was a member of the R.A.F. and took part in operations over Germany until he was shot down and taken prisoner by the Germans. He attempted to escape on three occasions, and his early death at the age of 27 is believed to have been accelerated by his treament while in enemy hands.

He was the rear gunner of Lancaster III ND325 PM-C of 12 Sqn, which force landed at Wingsbach, January 2nd 1944 - see BCL 1944, Chorley, page 18.

WILSON, William - Cpl - 946314 - RAFVR - Neilston Cemetery - the Statutory Deaths Register on the Scotland's People website records his full name as William Wilkinson Wilson, and that he died at 5.10 p.m. at Hairmyres Hospital, due to Pulmonary TB.

UTTLEY, Raymond - AC2c - 3081882 - the Statutory Deaths Register on the Scotland's People website records that he died at around 3.40 p.m. at the service road leading from the Dumfries to Moffat road to the Dumfries to Lockerbie road, due to multiple injuries received in a motor accident.

INDIA
CARDWELL, Philip - AC2c - 2261851 - the National Probate Calendar records that he died at The British Military Hospital, Delhi.

PAKISTAN
DOBSON, James - W/O - 547354 - Casualty Communique No. 37, Flight Magazine of July 5th 1940 had reported him as a PoW, previously listed as missing. His rank at that time was L.A.C.

Hi James Dobson was my great uncle and I am researching his military service. I wondered if you have any more information on him. In particular references that he died in hospital as family history says he drowned. Any help greatly appreciated

Apologies for the tardy reply, but I've just been going through my files and came across your post.

James Dobson became a P.o.W after being shot down in Blenheim I L4823 of 113 Squadron. This information is from the book "Bomber Command Losses in the Middle East and Mediterranean" Volume 1 by David Gunby and Pelham Temple, page 17:

Op: El Adem
Took off 14.15 LG 14 (Maarten Bagush), one of nine Blenheims detailed to attack El Adem airfield. After bombing, was attacked by three Italian fighters and shot down in flames 7 km east of El adem. All the crew were badly burned, but walked for eight hours before being captured by an Italian Marine post east of Tobruk.

Phillip Cardwell 2261851 , was admitted seriously ill to the British military hospital at Delhi on 19 June suffering with head exhaustion, becoming dangerously ill on 23 June , where he died if acute hepatic necrosis
