The above airmen were killed on 18 July, 1946, in a road accident on the Perth Road, about three miles from Pearce aerodrome. They were aboard a RAAF heavy truck which collided head-on with another RAAF heavy vehicle. The 13 airmen (and one WAAAF), were off to Perth to attend rehabilitation lectures as part of their pre-discharge training.

The casualties were:

75213 LAC Francis GINNS RAAF.

75213 LAC Francis GINNS RAAF (ex-No.3 Central Recovery Depot, Amberley, Queensland), had been officially discharged from the RAAF on 14 December, 1945. Francis Ginns collapsed and died while walking along Scarborough Street, Southport, Queensland. He had been suffering from heart disease. Death was recorded as due to natural causes. Ginns was 47 years of age.

John Marshall Hall 1407516 , died whilst on demobilisation leave, in the Royal Cornwall infirmary, Truro, of a cereberal tumour

Stanley James Berry 1851703 | had been admitted to RAF hospital, Padgate on 31 July 1943. Medically discharged, he died of Pleural effusion
