Members may have noticed that on the front page there is a small notice and link for a "Chrome Browser Extension". I had been trying out the various features for the last two weeks and have finally published a full version of the same . This currently works only with Google Chrome Browser. If you are wondering what it is and how it works - I am posting this FAQ.

First - What is this? Its a “Plug-in” that helps a frequent visitor to the site to use some of the research tools right in their Chrome Browser without having to visit the RAFcommands.com website.
How does it work? The extension should be first installed from this link https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/raf-commands/glonejanlmjlfkjmhmdebdplhcfakgak .
It appears as a small square logo right next to the address bar of your Google Chrome Browser. Clicking it will “Pop Open” a window – that will display the latest ten posts from our Forum, as well as a quick search boxes to search the Aircraft Serial Database, the CWGC Database and the London Gazette Name Search Facility. It will look like below:

How do I get it? Simply visit this link (https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/raf-commands/glonejanlmjlfkjmhmdebdplhcfakgak) – the Google Chrome Extensions Site where our Plugin is hosted. Click the “Add to Chrome” button on top right. This will enable the extension in your browser.
Is it safe? To quote a neighbour – 400% safe!. The extension is a simple html page that uses internet apis. It does not store cookies, nor execute any code.
Whats in it for me? It saves you time - you dont have to type the site address and navigate to the forum to see who has posted what. simply clicking the small logo next to your chrome's address bar will pull down the list of latest posts..

Please do try it out - and post feedback on this thread.

Thanks for the feedback till date - I have published an updated version of the Chrome Extension. version 1.2.0

This goes beyond the current site and provides 'Search Boxes' for the National Archives, Imperial War Museum and RAF Museum Navigator sites..

It might require you to remove the current extension (Do it from chrome://extensions ) and re-install from https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/raf-commands/glonejanlmjlfkjmhmdebdplhcfakgak

Made a few changes to the browser exension

Now it has a right click menu option on any selected text - you can launch a serial number search to locate all posts and entries on the site related to the serial.

You do need to go to the browser extensions in your browser and refresh the current installation. click paste chrome://extensions/?id=glonejanlmjlfkjmhmdebdplhcfakgak in your browser address window and then click "Update" refresh the browser

Alternatively you can uninstall and do a new install from this page. https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/raf-commands/glonejanlmjlfkjmhmdebdplhcfakgak
