What caused the death of:

Sgt Lewis J.F. GODWIN - 590507 - killed on active service - buried Capuccini Naval Cemetery.

It's possible that he was killed in an air raid because it's known that P/O (Clerk) Hubert SCADENG - 80908 (employed on Code & Cypher duties Air HQs Malta) was killed by enemy action same day 04.40hrs at Brittania St (today Melita St), Malta.

Unfortunately can't reach our research friend Kevin Mifsud from Malta as e-mails are bounced.

Sgt Godwin was in fact killed together with P/O Scadeng.

RAF GRO Index lists them as

Godwin - Stn Halfar
Scadeng - Simply "HQ RAF" probably the actual death ceert has more text on it
