Although in the past not much response from that side of the world, will have this thread on the forum:

What caused the death of:
AC1 Guiseppe BORG - 776857 - killed on active service - buried Capuccini Naval Cemetery.

Regards and thanks for your help.
Henk.

Henk,
If you PM to Vincent Borg, who lives in Malta, and is a Merchant Navy site researcher, at:-

http://www.mercantilemarine.org/memberlist.php?ltr=V&pp=0&sort=username&order=asc

he may be able to turn something up for you. Could even be a relative, but it is a popular local name.

Stewart

Hi Henk

I think you'll find that AC1 Joseph (not Guiseppe) Borg was killed during an air raid on 11 March 1941. He was based at Kalafrana. I will endeavour to confirm.

Cheers
Brian

Guiseppe being the Italian for Joseph, I wonder if he changed it so as not to sound like the enemy?

Thanks Brian. Didn't succeed in contacting Victor Borg. Had to register via his website. Thanks for your help to confirm.

Hello Henk,

The correct date of death of Giuseppe Borg was in fact the 11/03/1941. His body, together with that of his wife was found the following day. They were killed by enemy bombing in a house in Sliema.

Best regards

Kevin
