Of possible interest to those working in this field:
HAMMERBECK, Ronald Ernest Roger, F/L (106651, RAFVR) - No.20 Operational Training Unit - Air Force Cross - awarded as per London Gazette dated 7 September 1945. Public Record Office Air 2/9117, courtesy of Steve Brew, has citation drafted when he had flown 1,282 hours, 710 on current duties, 130 in previous six months.
"This officer has been engaged on instructional duties for three years and, throughout, his devotion to duty has been unflagging. He is extremely efficient and, during his long period of operational training work, has maintained a very high standard of instruction. For the past 18 months, Flight Lieutenant Hammerbeck has been employed almost exclusively in training French crews. This has entailed both flying and ground instruction but, in spite of these increased duties, his keenness has never diminished."
