The result of research spanning well over a decade, this book gives detailed accounts on forty three aircraft accidents, on and around the Scottish Islands from 1914 to 1941, with a great emphasis on the crews involved.

This first volume of a planned series of four, deals in the main with the pioneer aviators of military aircraft, from basic single engine wooden biplanes, seaplanes and airships held together with wires, fabric and glue, with top speeds boasting between 50 and 90 mph, to the big four engine monoplane bombers and flying boats, built of robust aluminium and steel reaching top speeds of over 300mph.

This work is dedicated to all those who lost their lives, and to those who survived against incredible odds.
