LOST TO THE ISLES 3 (1944)
David W.Earl & Peter Dobson.
ISBN : 978-0-9523928-6-6
In this third volume we cover stories on a further 34 military aircraft accidents and incidents around the Scottish Islands. 1944 was a very busy year and aside from British aircrew, there were notably many lost from Commonwealth and European forces and several accounts of these are included in this book. Once again, aside from the many single engine types, the twin and four engine heavies were a prominent feature, both in a training and operational role, and great tales of bravery among crews are recalled.
This work is dedicated to all those who lost their lives, and to those who survived against incredible odds.
Published in paperback 312 pages, B/W photos and aircraft profiles throughout.
Available from Amazon, Ebay and selected bookshops.
