The met office at RAF High Wycombe (one time HQ Bomber Command/RAF Southdown) is closing its doors on 28 September after 68 years, and I'm putting together its history. HQBC formed at Uxbridge on 14 July 1936, subsequently moving to Richings Park, Iver, on 25 August 1939, before finally taking residence at its permanent home at RAF High Wycombe (known as Southdown during the war) in mid-March 1940.

I think a Command Met Office was established either during the summer of 1939, or with the move to Richings Park. I've been unable to find any documents relating to this, but hope there might be a clue in the Air Force List covering 1938-39.

I believe these editions included sections for meteorological offices and the met officers-in-charge. If anyone has access to these two years I'd be grateful if they could they tell me when a Senior Meteorological Officer was listed for HQBC - I'm pretty sure his name was W H Pick.

TIA
Brian
