Although not entirely clear this is your man, the Newcastle Evening Chronicle of Wednesday 07 February 1940 carries the following article regarding a Thomas Denton:

GATESHEAD MAN DIES AFTER ROAD CRASH.

The death has taken place in Newcastle Infirmary of Thomas Denton (47), married, of Rodsley Avenue, Gateshead, who was admitted on Monday suffering from general injuries caused through a collision between his motorcycle and a car, on the coast road, Newcastle.

The Newcastle Journal of the following day described him as a 'despatch rider.'

Yes I believe that that is the man, Despatch rider in collision with a car of some kind.

I just wonder if the other man, WILSON, was a passenger on/in the bike if it had a sidecar ?
