According to the inquest, Sgt Pilot Alfred Albert Gilbert Dowle, aged 28 years, died of a cerebral hemorage resulting from a fracture at the base of his skull.
Although no evidence was forthcoming, during the inquest it was suggested that he fell down some steps in the black out, while coming out of a dance in Uxbridge on 15 Feb 40. After returning to an un-named RAF Station, he was found unconcious in bed the following morning (16 Feb) by RAF colleagues. Failing to rouse him, an ambulance was called. He stopped breathing while being treated by an RAF Doctor (presumably at RAF Uxbridge) soon after admission. An open verdict was returned.
