LAC Tuffin died of injuries sustained in a crash while with No.5 EFTS

May 1st 1941, “D Flight, LAC Tuffin crashed at Groundslaw Farm, and died of injuries later.
C Flight, 1 pupil lost, no damage.”

There isn't a Groundslaw Farm on the map, but there is a Groundslow to the SW of Meir.

Oddly I don't have anything for the 5 FTS accident, because I don't appear to have a copy of the page from the ORB for the start of the month. From where Nicholson's death is registered it fits with the Master though.

Henk there were two seperate accidents in the same general area of England one from No.5 FTS the other from No.5 EFTS.

5 EFTS were flying Magisters from Meir which is not too far from where the crash that involve Tuffin occurred.

Alan, don't worry you are not missing a page, there isn't one! It starts on the 14th May. Confusingly there is a mention of an LAC J B Nicholson (993683) as killed on the 14th May 1941, but no such person to match on CWGC.

I do not have any notes from the accident cards for N7894 as it is out side of my 'boundaries', but the death registration seems to fit for Nicholson.

Cheers, Tom
