Flight Sergeant (later Flight Lieutenant) Peter Eric Turner, No.7 Squadron - Distinguished Flying Medal, awarded as per London Gazette dated 18 May 1943. The recommendation states: “A most trustworthy member of an aircrew, Flight Sergeant Turner has now carried out the duties of Flight Engineer on 26 operational flights. His dependability and high standard of efficiency have been of the greatest assistance to his Captain. His keenness and enthusiasm to engage the enemy are outstanding”.

Flight Lieutenant Peter Eric Turner, DFM, served as Flight Engineer, No. 7 Squadron (Lancasters), one of the original five Squadrons which had formed the nucleus of the Pathfinder Force, 1942, took part in 20 missions, May to September, 1942; operations include: Cologne, Essen, St. Nazaire, Emden, Bremen, Flensburg, Norden, Duisberg, Frankfurt and Kassel, the last being abandoned after a Ju.88 had damaged the rear turret and controls of Turner’s aircraft; Flight Lieutenant, 1945.
