Thunderbolt v Spitfire crash

6th June 1944 a Spitfire flown by SAAF Pilot landed at Nettuno Italy as he did so a Thunderbolt landed ontop of the Spitfire resulting in the pilots death a couple of days later.

Has any member any register or specific interest in Thunderbolts which may help in any identification for me.
