Hello to all of our colleagues from the Netherlands.
I am busy compiling various stories for a book and was wondering if anyone has any information on the loss of the Dutch Starfighter D-8337 in 1983 over the Otterburn Ranges in Northumberland.
Ideally I'm interested in getting my hands on the official accident report, or at least extracts from it.
Thanks,
Jim Corbett

F-104G, D8337, 312 squadron Vliegbasis Volkel of the RNLAF, left RAF Conningsby on 12 April 1983 for a two ship range delivery during exercise Mallet Blow. During a dive on the Otterburn range the aircraft hit a hill behind the target; after sliding about 125 meters the aircraft exploded. The pilot, 2nd Luitenant M. Sasbrink-Harkema was killed in the accident. D-8337 made it's first flight November 11th 1964 and accumulated 3000 hrs in December 1982.

Thanks for the prompt reply. Those dates are new to me.
I have several photos of this aircraft, three taken when it was painted up to celebrate it's 3000hrs flight time.
Do you happen to have any photos of the pilot?

Hi,
I just came across this forum when searching the internet, actually this forum as well as the NEAM forum. I am interested in this book you are writing. My father was the pilot of that aircraft, M. Sasbrink-Harkema.
