Hi Henk
Bate,20,Gibbons,24,and Holmes,26, are all registered at Devizes. CFS was based at Upavon at the time so they might have been involved in Master W4877, or Oxford N6365.
MacLean,23, is registered at Louth,Lincolnshire the right area for a death near or at Binbrook.
Carrick is buried in Glasgow and Mitchell in Belfast neither would have come up on the register if they died there
Regards
Dick

Henk

A bit more detail to go with what DaveW has posted.

Abridged from 'Wings Over Wiltshire'. Master W8477 collided with Oxford N6365 whilst landing, apparently the pilot PO Holmes was unaware of the Oxford's presence on the ground whilst landing into the sun. The collision occurred at Alton Barnes an RLG for Upavon.

Nick

Just come across this thread (and the earlier one in the archives section). Regarding the death of PO Kenneth James Holmes DFC 44600, he was not the pilot of the Master, he was the passenger. The pilot was PO Price, who survived, albeit badly injured.
