Air Cdre CC Darley was AOC No1 Indian Group appointed 8th Jan 1938, he was a distingished WW1 pilot who was awarded the Albert Medal whilst attempting to save his brothers life from a Vimy in Italy in 1919.

Following his appointment as AOC No 1 Group in India he was subsequently injured in a flying accident in 1939, repatriated back to the UK and invalided out of the service in September 1939.

Can anyone please advise detailsof the accident in which he was injured.

Many thanks

Royton, Hi,
Don't know if you've gone through the Air Safety Network site?, but there are 4 'possibles' in India in 1939.

Forms 1180 from RAF Museum might give you a lead?
Let us know what (if anything!) you find.

Checked the following with 28 Sqn orbat

25 Feb 39 Audax K4855 28 Sqn
08 Jul 39 Audax K5566 28 Sqn
16 Jul 39 Audax K4860 28 Sqn

-None of the above involves Darley so you can eliminate them!
