To save Henk a posting when he gets to May 1944 this same up on AB-IX today and is posted here for a wider audience

F/Sgt Douglas Arthur WHITEHURST was killed in India on 16.5.1944 while serving with 3 Refresher Flying Unit at Poona, India.

Whitehurst was in Harvard IIB FE716 with the pilot shown as Sgt P A Wilde. Both were killed when it hit a tree low flying at Hinganaon.

Hi Paul,

Not being privy to AB-IX info, in the dark on this one.

Baugher quotes Harvard IIB FE716 (42-913) as; 'Crashlanded and w/o at Chota Malir, India Nov 26, 1944'.

Whilst not incompatible with AB-IX info (And knowing that Baugher uses AB data), could you please elaborate ?

Col.

Source is Jim Halley (he of AB Serials books) and AHB

Maybe a typo in the AB books - Need to xref look at Harvard File and FA to FZ Serials

Your xref would still be of interest.

Thanks Paul,

FE716 went to USAAF 11-10-1943; correct serial must be FE718.

Henk.

I queried this with Jim Halley on AB-IX and he said

"Agreed; should be FE718. The casualty slip was the standard third carbon
copy and difficult to read"
