For Ross:
At Brooklands Museum, we have Vol 1 of RAF Coastal Commands losses. Does a Volume 2 exist, as we can't find a copy anywhere!!

Hi Guys
I think that Pavel's reply does an unintended injustice to our kindly benefactor Ross. I think the correct answer is that Ross McNeill has provided Midland Counties with all the material for a complete series of "Coastal Command Losses" to the end of the war but for reasons that are not clear to interested bystanders MCP have chosen so far not to publish Vols 2 and 3. I assume they would say that the issue is largely economics that the series is not as popular as eg Bomber Command Losses. However why it is that MCP/Ian Allan cannot stump a few quid for what is essentially a memorial to the sacrifice that was made baffles me. I have raised this issue myself with MCP people and not received a satisfactory reply.

A very interesting response from Steve. Obviously things go on behind the scenes; a silly question, perhaps, but does it have to be published by MCP?....

I have talked to Ross on this matter some time ago and told him what mcp told me which was that they had lost contact with him , the author of vol 1, this was news to Ross as his reply to me indicated that he was still in contact with them. He told me at that time he would try and get it published, i think he said that there had been some change in personnel and they had gone cold on the idea, he did say he had provided them with the material as already mentioned.
I live in N.Ireland and have been researching my local airfields for some time, and i have to say that coastal command has a far greater importance to me than bomber command and i have been very keenly waiting the arrival of vols 2 and 3, and i told mcp that in my opinion it was unfair to only produce vol 1, and not follow up with other volumes, i did not get a proper reply. I only caught this thread by accident tonight but feel strongly about this subject. bye. regards Mervyn.

Hi Mervyn, thanks for additional info.
I agree with you - CC losses are more unique and me and one friend of mine here in Prague we are waiting for the other volumes very impatiently for quite a long time...
I know that now is crisis but I am sure that this publication will have a strong reception...
BTW question for Ross - would be possible to try another publisher or as the manuscript was already given to the MCP it is not possible?

I think sales of Volumes 2 and 3 would far exceed Volume 1 (no disrespect for that publication) but the Liberator/Halifax era is even more keenly supported by CC enthusiasts that the Anson/Hudson era.
Ross, you have our total support.

Hi,
I have also be waiting for the other volumes os Coastal Command Losses and also for volume 2 from Royal Air Force Bomber Losses: In The Middle East And Mediterranean: Volume 1: 1939-1942 from Gunby nad Temple. I have most of the bomber command losses but this two series of books are also more interesting for me. I Research in Portugal and most of 100 and more aircraft that landed here where in non operational flight's or under coastal command control.
Let's wait

Nothing has changed to alter the info in the previous posts.
No commission from MSP/IAP on the submission of Vol 2.
Waiting to see what happens with ME Losses, Vol 2.
Unlike Burma spitfires I do not post weekly updates on lack of progress.
