JENKINS, Henry Archibald, A/S/L (44195, Royal Air Force) - No.215 Squadron - Distinguished Flying Cross - awarded as per London Gazette dated 5 April 1946. Born in Miami, Florida, 1920; attended college in Edinburgh. Enlisted October 1939; commissioned July 1940. Citation from Air Ministry Bulletin.

"This officer commenced his operational flying in Europe. There he completed many sorties including air evacuation of casualties from Normandy and the mission to Arnhem. Since then he has operated in the South East Asia Command in Burma, acting as Flight Commander on a number of sorties. While the squadron was stationed in the Imphal Plain during May/June 1945 the monsoon made flying extremely difficult and hazardous. The same conditions prevailed on the Arakan Coast in July/August 1945, including very poor visibility; nevertheless, Squadron Leader Jenkins always completed his mission with success. Throughout he has shown fine qualities of leadership with determination and great devotion to duty."
