Hi Paul
From Ancestry.co.uk there is the death of a Colin W E Milburn registered at Witney(nr Oxford,I think) in the 2nd Qtr of 1938, he was age 21.

Dick

Thanks - One mystery solved I think

Background - Trying to resolve issue on air force deaths on this date re: Audax K5155 which is recorded in the K File as "2 FTS Crashed on landing at Brize Norton 20.6.38" and Fury K3730 the entry reads " 2 FTS crashed during firing practice at Sutton Bridge 20.6.38 -Pilot Killed"

As at the moment we can only find one aircraft crash on this date that resulted in a death (APO Colin Milburn) therefor the belief is that either: The accident to K5155 resulted in the death (not K3730) or the two aircraft have been mixed up (Both are listed as 2 FTS) and Fury K3730 crashed nar Brize Norton and Audax K5155 was at Sutton Bridge - Unless anyone else knows differently

Hi Paul
Brize Norton is very close to Witney but a Google Map search for Sutton Bridge takes me to Lincolnshire!!, at which place in April 1938, No 3 Armament Training School was formed and that could be a likely place for a detachment from a FTS, a similar unit may have been in existence even earlier , your man's death is in that qtr of1938.The source of that is Flying Training and Support Units by Sturtivant and Hamlin.
