What were the places of death registration for:

A - Died on active service:
Sgt Sidney GREEN - 1108947;
Cpl Arthur A. GUEST - 851362 - 916 (Balloon) Sqn (Wythall, Herts.);
LAC Leslie C. LOWE - 1088883, and
AC1 John C. WILLIAMS - 1029551 - 9 Sqn (Waddington, Lincs.).

B - Not found in Flight archives:
AC2 Stewart P.G. JONES - 744671;
Sgt Benjamin PARKER - 357219;
LAC Alfred G. PENHALLURICK - 1316226 - age 28, and
W/O John J. WALLIS - 910887.

C - Proposed aircraft losses:
Spitfire V.A - P7757 - 61 OTU - spun into ground Montford Bridge.
Oxford I - BG663 - 14 (P)AFU - crashed on approach Wellingore.

Hi Henk,

Pilot of P7757 was 'Sgt R Dunne', who was seriously injured. There is no accident card for this and the ORB does not give his service number either, perhaps other forum members can help?

Wallis died in the Royal Salop Infirmary, in Shrewsbury from some form of illness (not sure what exactly).

Can't find the others, this is a frustrating one.

Looking for unit and cause of death of:
AUS403536 F/O Martin Desmond SHIELS - RAAF - buried in the Alexandria (Hadra) War Mem. Cem., Egypt. Can't find his name in Flight Global.

From the No.451 Squadron RAAF ORB:

IDKU. 12/Feb/43. No.AUS403536 Pilot Officer M.D.SHIELS was killed in an aircraft accident at IDKU at 1620 hours today, whilst taking off on active operations, and struck off the strength of the R.A.A.F wef. same day. Fatality classed as Flying Battle Casualty. He was buried on the 14/Feb/43 in the New British War Memorial Cemetery, ALEXANDRIA.

12/Feb/43 Hurr. II. BP541 P/O M.D.SHIELS Interception 1600

On taking off in strong cross winds P/O M.D.SHIELS, just after becoming airborne, struck buttress of a dispersal bay causing the aircraft to somersault in the air, P/O M.D.SHIELS being killed. The other section and aircraft pancaked shortly after.

Hello

Sgt Sidney GREEN - 1108947 - the National Probate Calendar records that he died at Stoke Mandevile Military Hospital, Aylesbury.

Cpl Arthur A. GUEST - 851362 - the National Probate Calendar records that he died at the Emergency Medical Service Hospital, Warwick.

Sgt Benjamin PARKER - 357219 - the Dundee Evening Telegraph of February 17th 1943 reported the following:

SHOT AIRMAN HAD GIRL'S LETTERS OVER HIS HEART
With two letters from a girl in Scotland over his heart, Sergeant Benjamin Parker (38), of the R.A.F., was found shot dead in a room at Eastcote, Middlesex. A Sten gun as by his side with 29 bullet cases, while bullets were found in the ceiling and walls of the room.
At the inquest, at Uxbridge today, a verdict of suicide while the balance of the mind was disturbed was returned.

Arthur Andrew Guest 851362 , was admitted dangerously ill to the Gulson Road hospital, Coventry on 17 October 1942, suffering with an intestinal obstruction due to a malignant carcinoma in the colon. He was transferred to the EMS hospital, Warwick on 10 December 1942 where he died

John Joseph Wallis 910887 , a medically discharged Airman at the time of his death, had been admitted dangerously ill to the Shrewsbury Royal Infirmary on 18 June 1942. Medically discharged on 10 July, he died of a perforated duodenal ulcer

Sidney Green 1108947 | attached to RAF Leighton Buzzard | was admitted to Stoke Manderville hospital on 9 February. He became dangerously ill on 10 February dying at 18:30 Hours of pneumonia
