A - Killed on active service:
ACW2 Patricia BAXTER - 2141264;
Sgt (Pilot) Douglas CAMPBELL - 535179;
Asst. Section Offr (WAAF) Joan P. CHANDLER - 6312, and
ACW2 Irene D. COLLETT - 2148006.

B - Not found in Flight archives:
LACW Rosina A. FROST - 2069724.

C - Died on active service:
W/O Frederick C. GALLOP - 346921 - age 46, and
LACW Betty T. HASPREY - 471993.

D - Died of wounds or injuries received on active service:
LAC Arthur LEWIS - 1126912 - 958 (Balloon) Sqn (Green Willows, Sketty Park, Swansea with a detachment at Port Talbot).

E - Looking for GRO-listing of:
AC2 Wilfred HALLWORTH - 1093796 - age 20 buried Dely Ibrahim War Cem., Algeria (not found in Flight archives).

F - Proposed aircraft losses:
Magister I - T9827 - 317 Sqn - crashed in forced landing left bank of Trent at Adlingfleet, Yorkshire.
Oxford I - V4032 - 17 (P)AFU - flew into high ground at night near Berwick, St.James, Wiltshire.
Oxford II - V3603 - 3 (P)AFU - crashed on approach Bibury.
Tiger Moth II - T5955 - 15 EFTS - flew into ground Solway Sands.
Tiger Moth II - T7333 - 11 EFTS - crashed in forced landing Luncarty, 4 miles NNE of Perth, Perthshire.
Tiger Moth II - T8251 - 16 EFTS - spun into ground Bannell Farm, Mickelover, Derbyshire.
Typhoon I.B - DN422 - Del Flt - crashed on take-off Sawbridgworth.

Most likely, No.107 Repair & Salvage Unit.

Formed c. 9-10-42 in UK for 'Operation Torch'; 13-11-42 arrived Algiers, to BLIDA; redesignated No.2(NA) ARU 28-3-43.

a pilot of the Typhoon DN422 was F/L M.J. Gray. He was unhurt.

T5955 & T8251 were both recorded as none fatal accidents, a Sgt Clark & Sgt Fields were flying T5955 and T8251 was being flown by Army Corporal R.W. Ryan (2589852 - Glider Pilot Regiment).

South West Wales was bombed on the 17th Feb 1943 and a number of lives lost. Prehaps this links the 3 WAAFs

Dick: Could the death registration for CAMPBELL (Salisbury, Wiltshire) match was the Oxford crash location (near Berwick, St.James, Wiltshire) ?

Just to confirm that the three WAAFs were killed in the bombing of Fairwood Common Aerodrome, Swansea: there is a brief description here (http://www.explore-gower.co.uk/explore/gower-landmarks/swansea-airport-fairwood)

LACW Betty T. HASPREY - 471993 - accidental death, died in an RAF hospital after she was riding a cycle that was involved in an accident with a car at Weston-sub-Edge near The Segrave Arms.

The Sunday Mirror of March 7th 1943 reported the following:

BOMB ENDS LOVES STORY
"I'm keeping my fingers crossed, the war will end one day." These were the last words written by 19 year old W.A.A.F. Patricia Baxter to her parents and Hannah, her childhood nurse, of Mansfield Rod, Ilfracombe.
The same night a bomb hit Pat's billet in South Wales. She was one of three killed. Just before last Christmas her sweetheart, now Sergeant-Pilot Roy Bond, came home from Canada, and they became engaged.

LACW Rosina A. FROST - 2069724 - the Western Gazette of February 26th 1943 reported the following:

PORTLAND
"WAAF" DIES IN IRELAND - Twnety fieve years old L.A.C.W. Rosina Alice Frost, W.A.A.F., one of the daughters of Mr. and Mrs. W. Frost, of 30, Grove Road, died in hospital in Northern Ireland last week. Her parents made the journey of soemthing like 400 miles to see her, and arrived a few hours before she passed away.

W/O Frederick Cleveland GALLOP - 346921 - the National Probate Calendar records that he died at Mount Vernon Hospital, Ruislip.

Rosina Alice Frost 2069724 , a cook and butcher attached to RAF Limavady in Coastal Command was admitted dangerously ill to the Roe Valley EMS hospital where she died of tuberculosis meningitis
