Another Presentation Aircraft - 'FOLKESTONE & HYTHE'. (One of two so-named. The other was, Vb BM632)

Spitfire IIb P8467:

... the aircraft returned to 57 OTU on 28 November (1942), to continue in the training role until 8 March 1943 when the engine failed and Sgt M P BOURBLIEU force-landed in a field at Water Side Farm, Thurston, Northants, without injury to himself. P8467 was declared Category E (write-off).

Hello

LACW Madge E. LOVERING - 2021853 - the Lincolnshire Echo of March 17th 1943 reported the following:

Waaf Jolted off Cycle Into Air
"Death trap" was the term applied to Waddington Heath crossroads by a witness at the adjourned inquest on Acwm. Madge Evelyn Lovering, W.A.A.F., aged 24, who, it was stated, was flung into the air while cycling.
She was pedal-cycling over the crossroads from Mere Road towards Branston Mere at 10.30 a.m. on March 8, when, in a collision with a car travelling on the main road towards Lincoln, she was thrown, and received severe injuries and concussion, succumbing the same day.
The jury returned a verdict of "death by misadventure," adding a rider that the crossroads barrier obscuring vision of traffic on the Mere Road and on the main road from Sleaford should be removed.

Simon
