Thanks both Dick & Malcolm.
Dick: Could WILKINS - registered Eton, have been a casualty on Martinet HP372 crashed near Turweston ?
Malcolm: Have a look at 19-4-1943 for a question on a GRO-listing.
Regards,
Henk.

Hi Henk
Regarding Wilkins,I don't think he could have been involved in an accident near Turweston. The airfield is in the north of Buckinghamshire towards the border with Northamptonshire with the closest town being Brackley. Eton is in the South of the county and is virtually continuous with Windsor separated by the River Thames.Eton lies under the Easterly approaches to Heathrow. Wilkins age as an AC1,38, makes him an unlikely candidate for pilot training although he could still have been given a trip with someone qualified

Hi Henk,

F1180 for Oxford N4723 of No.3 (P) AFU records it was out of control on take off and struck an airman with the tailplane.

The casualty box has 1 3rd Party fatality.

Suggest that as aerodrome was at South Cerney a good match would be Dick's "I found a Daniel Mason, registered at Swindon,Wiltshire but the age was only 24 where CWGC has your man as 31.I don't think it was the right one"

As Swindon is the local hospital where injured from the aerodrom were usually taken.

Hi Henk,

Have you got 2 fatalities for Proctor HM303, Pilot Sgt A Herd, 1349891?

If not then outside chance that Bayliss was taken to Oxford from Faringdon from this crash.

Ross

Hello

AC2 Daniel MASON - 1359610 - the Graves Registration Report Form confirms his unit as 3 (P) A.F.U., which would link him to Oxford N4723?

Regards

Simon
