Looking at a recommendation for an award to a pilot in No.20 Squadron, I note that the man is credited with attacks on river craft (sampans, barges) but also on "paddy gigs" and "kisties". Pray tell, what are these creatures ?

Paddy gigs were river boats, an example of which can be seen here:

Kisties were even bigger, flat bottomed, river cargo craft

If you' d asked me that in the Pub Quiz I'd have said "Kisties" was a breakfast cereal, and "Paddy gigs" was a seriously alcoholic thrash in an Irish pub!!
OK, I'll get my coat and go!!!
